Rick Story

“Write-in” candidate
Rabun County Board of Education
Post #5

Rick is currently serving on the school board.

Why a “write-in” candidate?

This year there was an unusual circumstance where the board needed to fill a vacancy, and they did, by putting forth the name of Rick Story for Rabun County Board of Education – Post #5. He has been serving in that capacity for the past few months but now he must stand for a full four-year term in a special election.
What all voters will need to do is this:
1) Select “WRITE-IN” under Rabun County Board of Education, Post #5.
2) Once you have selected “WRITE-IN,” then you will need to manually enter my name “RICK STORY.”
3) My name must be entered exactly as it is registered, and that is “RICK STORY.” No other spelling or entry will be valid.
Thank you for the trust you have placed in me as a member of the Rabun County Board of Education, and I thank you for your vote!

Rick Story

Surrounded by teachers!

Rick is the son, grandson, and cousin of some of Rabun County’s longest tenured school teachers.   He’s literally grown up in the classrooms of Rabun surrounded by teachers!

Federal Work

As a congressional aide and Deputy Chief of Staff to then-Congressman Nathan Deal, Rick supported the Congressman’s work on the Committee on Education and Workforce in the US House of Representatives, as he helped draft policies governing education at the FEDERAL level.

GA Department of Education

As a member of Governor Deal’s staff, Rick continued to support education initiatives at the STATE and LOCAL levels, as he worked with members of the Georgia General Assembly and the Georgia Department of Education.

Local Leadership

Through Forward Rabun, Rick established the Forward Rabun Youth Leadership Program in partnership with Rabun County High School, Rabun Gap Nacoochee School and Tallulah Falls School.  This program takes LOCAL students out of traditional classroom settings and allows them to see facilities, people, key leaders, and potential career opportunities within our local community.

As a staff member at the University of Georgia, Rick worked with the Archway Partnership to link higher education resources with rural communities, and he is continuing this work LOCALLY through Forward Rabun.

As a Vice-President at North Georgia Technical College, Rick oversaw several career and technical education programs, including adult education and workforce development initiatives.

When you talk to Rick, you will quickly find that he is humbly grateful for the education he received in the public schools of Rabun County, and he simply wants to serve the system that has given him so much.
